Day 3 - Sun 1 May 05, Tokyo, Japan
Breakfast was okay, and the plane landed 20mins early! Had to take a bus from the bottom of the steps to the terminal, but they did let business off first! Got through immigration with no issues. Slight delay getting my bag, but at least it got here!
Exchanged my JR rail pass, got a reservation on the 11:19 NEX, and made my reservation for the trip to Osaka all by 10:30! Chatted to a very nice lady on the NEX on the way into Tokyo - she's doing a PhD in computer science, and had lived in Edinburgh for 4 years.
Found my way out of Shinjuku station with few problems, and found my hotel building with no problems, but reception was a bit harder to track down. After checking in and having a quick shower, I set out to find a JTB office, and see if I could get a voucher for my ferry trip.
I got to the JTB office which was open, but they couldn't book the ferry as the ferry office was shut, they suggested that I should try again tomorrow. But the JTB office doesn't open until 10:30, so my plan for an early start to get to Nikko is down the pan.
Back to the Hotel by 3pm, and promptly fell asleep - woke up by 5pm, and popped out for a wander around down town Tokyo, only spoiled by the rain. However, I did find a shop selling Pocari Sweat powder!
