Day 23 - Sat 3 May 2003
Up for breakfast at 8am, and then a trip down to the Geyser park - a very interesting place, with pools of coloured water and algae. The Geyser itself is a bit of a con, they have to feed it with soap to get it to do it's stuff. Rotorua is a much nicer place than Auckland, I guess because it's smaller, and actually has something to see.
I'm now back at the bus station, chatting to a Japanese girl I saw on the bus on the way down, she got off at Matamata, and has only just arrived in Rotorua and is waiting to meet up with her pal. I told her that I'd visited Japan a few times and really enjoyed it.. She gave me a World Cup 2002 Badge, how kind. I'm kinda sad to be leaving, but I'm ready to get out of here and head for Dubai.
The most memorable thing about this town is the smell, as soon as you arrive the smell of sulpha hits you.
There's a woman on the bus and boy can she talk, she didn't come up for air for 2 hrs! She got off the bus at Hamilton, and I'm hoping that she doesn't get back on!
Would I come back to NZ? Dunno - even with your own transport I think you'd be hard pushed to have enough to do here - Once you've seen one bit of beautiful countryside, could you keep seeing it for two weeks?
Back in Auckland, sent some e-mails had a beer and then headed for bed - lulled to sleep by the washing machine, shouts from the street, and car alarms - Saturday night is a loud night in Auckland.
