Day 30 - Mon 1 May 07 - Cuzco, Peru
Arrived in Cuzco at 04:40! bundled off the bus and got a taxi into the main square for 5 sols. There's still a few people being kicked out of a club. Asked a street cleaner for directions and found my hostel. It was 5am at this point and I knocked on the door, more in hope than expectation, but after a minute the door opened and I'm called by name! e-mailing ahead has it's advantages! They allowed me to check in and I managed to get a few hours kip. Bliss.
Then it was out on the streets, but a lot of stuff is closed as it's May Day, but did manage to get into the Tourist Info place, and then change some cash into some Sols. Then it was down to the station to get my ticket to Aguas Calientes. It's a very modern office with a queuing system. After about 20min, I'm at the front of the queue ready to buy my ticket. Bad news, there's no space on the backpackers train, but there is space on the vistadome - but that costs more. Luckily I've got just enough cash to cover it. Walk back up into town and get some cash from the ATM, grab something to eat and get a tour to the Sacred Valley for tomorrow.
Visited a couple of churches, they have some beautiful altar backs all covered in gold leaf, portraits and statues. Took a walk up the hill to get some night time shots over the city.
