Day 02 - Mon 17 Mar 08
A good nights sleep and out of the hotel by 09:00. A local bus gets me down to Heathrow (so much cheaper than the Heathrow Hoppa), and there are only three people in front of me in the check in queue. The first shock of the day - no queue for security!
The flight to Vienna was okay, and I had three seats to myself. As soon as I got into the terminal building in Vienna I found a service desk and spent some of my Miles and More points on an upgrade on the flight into Beijing. That was the whole point of taking the Austrian Airlines route. No issues with the upgrade and I get my new boarding pass there and then. Well if you're stuck on a plane for nine hours it might as well be in business class.
The upgrade got me into the business lounge where I had a few orange juices, checked my e-mail and got a shower. All very pleasant.
