Day 28 - Sat 12 Apr 08
Up early and breakfast in the room - mainly due to the fact that the hotel doesn't have restaurant. I run around to the Golden Temple to get one more photo then back to the hotel to collect the taxi off to Shimla.
The journey took almost nine hours. The first bit was through typical Indian countryside, flat, flat flat with farms and brickworks. Usual avoidance of dogs, cattle and other road users. The next part of the trip was a series of switch backs. At one point we has an incident with another car and some damage was caused. A few words where exchanged and then we just drove on.
Our driver stopped for lunch but we didn't join him. When we eventually arrived in Shimla the taxi driver "couldn't find" our choice of hotel, but had no problem finding his choice of hotel. Surprise, surprise! Phil wandered off and found our hotel - the Dalziel.
Our room is interesting - it's huge has two double beds and an anteroom with a table chairs - Rustic is the best way of describing it. We've seen Shimla (in the dark) and it's a strange mix of the English, such as the church, and the India. A muddle of shuttered shops and twisting lanes. Supper was at an expensive Chinese place and then a stroll with all the other (Indian) tourists.
