I've been to Belgium a few times now, Bruges is a favourite with me, wandering around the old city!
A good friend of mine imported a car from Belgium a few years ago, when car prices in the UK were the most expensive in Europe. So I've seen quite a few car dealerships in Belgium!
I've also appeared on Belgium TV - when I arrived at my campsite just outside Bruges, a TV crew was waiting. They were filming a game show, and one of the games was how fast a contestant could put up a tent. They used my tent! The contestant made a real hash of it, and I was shaking my head in disbelief - then I spotted the camera pointing at me!!
I spent a long weekend in Belgium in 2009 spending a night each in Ypres, Bruges and Ghent. I visited the Menin Gate while in Ypres, and I knew that it commemorated the dead of World War One. What I didn't realise is that it only remembers the missing soldiers of whom no trace could be found. 54,896 Commonwealth soldiers. A sobering experience.
