Ah - what can I say about Japan - it's the country that I've visited most, and it's an amazing place. Even in Tokyo surrounded by bright lights and tall buildings you can always find a temple that can take you back a thousand years.
Everyone thinks that Japan is an expensive country - and it can be, but there are a couple of things you can do, to make it a bit easier on the pocket - Buy a Japanese Rail Pass, Stay in Ryokans - the Japanese equivalent to B&B's, and most convenience stores do a good range of food!
High on anybodies list of places to visit in Japan should be the city of Kyoto - the ancient capital. Nowhere does old Japan rub shoulders so closely with the neon version than here.
One of the most sobering experiences I've had on my travels is my visit to Hiroshima, and the peace arch, where a flame burns until all the nuclear weapons in the world have been destroyed.
