Pocari Sweat saves my life!:
The walk from the Hotel to the Heritage village almost did me in - it was SO hot, I must have lost a lot of water - Luckily one of the buildings in the "Village" had an Air-Con unit, and I'd packed some Pocari Sweat (a Japanese ion drink) which I managed to guzzle!

I was very pleased to be able to "Bag" this country while I was visiting the United Arab Emirates - I'd been trying to arrange a tour from Dubai to the Hatta Rock Pools which are across the border in Oman. But it was low season, so there were few other tourists to share the cost with me.

I decided to make my way out to Hatta on a local bus, and see if I could arrange a trip from there. I tried my luck at the Hatta Fort Hotel, but it was the same story - they could arrange a tour, but I'd have to pay the whole cost, and that put it out of my budget.

While wandering around the Hatta Heritage Village, feeling a bit disappointed, I overheard a couple chatting - and they had an English accent, so I went up and asked how they had made their way out here - I was amazed to hear that they were on a tour to.. yes you've guessed it, the rock pools in Oman!

I approached their driver, and as luck would have it there was an extra space in the 4x4, and he was more than willing for me to join the group!

It was a great day - I got to see the rock pools, with some crystal clear, and oh so cool water, and even did some dune driving!
