Could it have been the Pope?
There was a light on in the Pope's Pad - it could have been him up, working on some important business!

I wandered around St. Peter's Square in Vatican City late at night - it was nice and cool, and there wasn't another soul around - it's the way to do it!

I re visited the Vatican in 2010, this time during daylight. I would have loved to have got in to the Sistine Chapel but the queues were rather long, so I decided to just have a wander around St Peter's Square.
