Day 5 - Tue 22 Sept 09
Up at 06:00 and downstairs at 06:30 to say goodbye to our kind host - he's even provided a breakfast in a bag for our journey! walk up to the bus station and the bus arrives soon after. We get the whole back seat to ourselves. The bus driver seems to want to overtake most things on the road, and we re-trace some of the day trip we did yesterday. Our journey takes us out of BiH into Croatia and then back into BiH and finally back into Croatia.
The coast road is quite spectacular as it twists and turns. The bus station is quite some way out of town, we de-bus and ignore all the offers of accommodation, and purchase our tickets for tomorrow (organised or what?). Then we locate the 1b bus that will take us into the centre of the old town.
Stop off at the tourist info place and the woman behind the desk rings to see if there are any rooms for us. After a few minutes a bright and bubbly middle aged woman appears with a 'Hello darling' and drags us off to her apartment just outside the city walls. €50 secures the room. With a 'Super darling' she's gone.
Dubrovnik is packed with tourists crawling all over the old city, there's a cruise ship in harbour so I'm hoping a lot of people will leave with that in the evening. We find a little back street restaurant to eat lunch, before spending another hour or so wandering around. It gets so hot we decide to head back to the room and turn the AC on.
Out for another stroll in the evening and bump into the American couple that we did our tour of Mostar with.
