Day 6 - Wed 23 Sept 09
Up at 07:00, to be out and walking the walls of the old city by 08:00. We had hoped that there wouldn't be too many tourists around - wrong. Two more cruise ships have dropped anchor in the bay near the city.
Caught the local bus back out to the long distance bus station and found that the Kotor bus was ready and waiting, and we headed off on time at 10:30. As we climbed out of the city there were some great views of Dubrovnik from the ridge over looking it.
At the border all passports are collected, stamped and handed back to the driver who moves onto the other border point where they are handed over for entry stamps. The trip to Kotor is uneventful, but the bay of Kotor is vast! The ferry across the mouth of the bay must save at least a 30 mile trip around the edge.
Kotor is very nice and we find accommodation with another lady via a tourist agency just inside the city walls. The whole place is tiny, the old city being about 200m x 200m. Lunch is taken with a young woman that we met on the coach. After that it's a climb up the mountain behind the city - Heaven knows why- oh yes, for fantastic views of the bay of Kotor. The climb up in the heat was a killer.
Out in the evening to try and find a car hire place, we find one, but they aren't too interested in loaning a car. Oh well.
