Day 2 Sat 21 June 2003 Helsinki/Tallinn
Up early for breakfast, and a walk down to the harbour to catch the boat to Tallinn. Only takes 1 1/2 hrs to get there, and the trip was quite smooth! Walked into the city centre, no need for a bus - Tallinn is very nice, and far more compact than Helsinki. All the streets seem to be cobbled. Went up a VERY tall church spire - took a few photos and then chickened out and ran back inside!
Spent the rest of the day using the Tallinn card to get into churches, castles and museums. Even took a tram out to the suburbs to see Kadriorg Park and Palace a palace built by Peter the Great. Glad I've done Tallinn - it really is a very pleasant place! Maybe a better trip would have been to Tallinn with a day trip to Helsinki?
Ate on the city square, and managed to visit a modern art gallery.
Caught the boat back, and even managed to get a stamp in the passport. A smaller boat than the one I came over on, and with many more people (and even a dog!) Back to the hotel by 9pm, and planning what to do tomorrow over a beer.
