Day 5 - Sat 28-Jan-2006
Caught the 10:18 from Koln to Bonn, it only took about 25 mins, but there was a heavy police presence at Koln station - there was a football match going on, and there where some travelling fans. Luckily I was heading in the opposite direction.
Found the tourist info place in Bonn, got some leaflets and headed out onto the streets to do the walking tour. On the way around I visited the Arithmeum which details the history of counting machines from the abacus to computers via napiers bones, slide rules, and mechanical adders - with a side line off to the Enigma machine. Then it was back to the centre of town to get something to eat.
I then attempted to catch tram 66 out to Konigswinter - trouble is I couldn't find tram 66. Eventually I asked in the railway station to be told that line 66 is in fact a metro line! With that knowledge, getting to Konigswinter was a lot easier. I walked passed the newly opened Sealife centre, and found the cog railway that leads from Konigswinter up to a viewing point in the Drachenfels Mountains. At the top they had quite a lot of snow, and the view over the town, and the Rhine was good (if a little hazy). I walked down to the cog railway mid way station, and then caught it all the way to the bottom.
Then it was back onto the Metro, and the 17:01 train to Koln.
