Day 1 - Sat 13 Oct 07
Well another travel adventure starts! I can't just visit one country, oh no. I have to do three. My flight was from Luton which was different as I've never flown from there before. I checked in online days ago so I headed straight for security. The line is long, but at least it's moving. I'm at the airport way too early, so I have a quick look around the airport, grab something to eat and find somewhere to sit down and wait.
The flight was three hours long and took us over the Alps, we landed at Malta at 18:20 and it seems that I've brought some unusual weather with me, it's raining - hard. The 18:50 bus into town didn't appear but one did arrive at 19:20.
The bus dropped me at the bus station right next to the city walls and a quick stroll gets me to my hotel. My room is 'interesting'. It's right up on the sixth floor and you have to trek through the restaurant and bar, not to mention a lot of stairs to get to it. However I do have my own private balcony overlooking the harbour. I dump my stuff and hit the streets, but it's about 20:30 by then.
Have a stroll around Valletta, it's an interesting place. All the buildings are made from the same white limestone, and have very ornate doorways, and wonderful overhanging balconies. Some of the shop signs have a very 1950's feel to them. There's a very much Italian or Spanish feel to the place, but there are British phone boxes and postboxes everywhere. I like it!
