Day 13 - Thr 25 Oct 07
My room was very good (if a little small) it was tiled thoughout with its own tint ensuite with a green light that gave everything a strange hue. It's downfall was that it opened out onto the courtyard, in which a bunch of Chechz were shouting until about 01:30 this morning - so not a lot of sleep. I had breakfast and headed off complaining about the lack of sleep and managed to get a 5Dn discount.
Walked down the hill, collected the car and drove into Tunis, a lot easier than it was yesterday as I kinda knew were I was going. Dropped the car off at the hire place with no issues, after topping the petrol tank up with another 5dn. Then it was a walk down town to the tourist info place near the clock tower and then into the medina for one last look around.
Took the tram out to the port and arrived very early. When the check in desk opened at 19:00 it was a huge bundle, I managed to push in and with the help of the Italian biker I'd met at the entrance to the port secure my ticket. Sailed through passport control and even had the same guy that stamped my passport on the way in. He'd never seen an Irish passport before - now he's seen one twice!
The boat is huge and much plusher than the 'Eurostar' than I came over on, and this name of this boat? "Splendid". I wish I was feeling that way, I'm really not feeling that well. It might be all the cigarette smoke, but as soon as I'm aboard I colapse into my bed. The cabin is spacious, has it's own toilet and shower, and is all mine for the next 24hrs.
We were supposed to sail at 22:00, but it looks like it's going to be more like 23:00, as we're still loading cars and trucks at 22:30.
