Day 1 - Thr 22 June 2006
Phew what a day, got a lift into work, and caught a taxi from there to the train station, the 09:23 was ontime but then sat outside the station for over 10 minutes. When I got to Stansted the police checked my passport to ensure that I wasn't a football hooligan trying to get to the World Cup. The plane to Trondheim was delayed by 30 mins, I wonder if anything else can go wrong?
Well, the first flight of the day was uneventful. I sat in the first row to ensure that I was first off. I hit the stairs, and headed for the nearest terminal building only to be stopped and told to head for another entrance. I was still the first to get the passport checked. Skipped baggage claim to the amazement of the airport employee who I asked directions of.
Due to building work on terminal building you have your passport checked, and then have to walk back out airside to get to the customs hall. Very confusing.
A walk across the car park got me to the other terminal building and to SAS check-in. The Tromso flight was uneventful but included a touch down in Bodo, so three take offs and landings in one day. Out of the airport in Tromso, and onto the Flybuss, which got me into the centre of town after a 15 minute drive. The setting for Tromso is spectacular with snowcapped mountains all around. Used my map reading skills to find the hotel in super quick time, checked in and then went for a quick walk.
Started to rain, so decided to head back, and have found that my digital camera is broken. Looked out of my hotel room window at 00:40, and it's still broad daylight!
