Day 5 - Mon 26 June 2006
My flight is at 07:00, it's a half hour trip to the airport, and I have to this tax free shopping refund thing for the camera, so it's up at 04:30 to catch the bus from the railway station. Who said air travel was glamorous? Check in was uneventful, but the tax free shopping desk is closed, so I'll have to post my application.
The flight is full, mainly of Norwegians heading to London for a short break. The Norwegians like their booze, both women sitting next to me have had a beer and a brandy chaser, and it's only 7am. They are not alone, everyone else seems to be on the hard stuff as well. The plane was about 40mins late taking off due to congestion at Stansted. We seem to have flown down the edge of Norway, and I assume that we're going to do a turn to head over the North Sea.
Is my urge to see Norway over? I've made it above the Arctic Circle, I've seen the White Nights, and I now know that I'm not really interested in doing anymore of the Coastal Steamer. But no, I'm not done with Norway yet - I've seen the White Nights, I guess I need to see the long nights as well and what that can bring, the Northern Lights.
