Day 1 - Fri 29 Apr 05, Heathrow
A day at work doing not a lot, just tying up a few loose ends. I caught the slow train down to Kings Cross. Well, I'm not in a hurry am I? How do I feel? Nervous I guess - mainly down to the eleven hour flight in front of me tomorrow. Last year I wasn't really ready for the trip, but this time I am.
Most of the people around me on the train are off for a bank holiday weekend - I'm off half way around the world, and then turning around and coming all the way back. I kind of wish that I was flying tonight, but that would be too stressful.
I've been waking up at 6am for the past few days, so I'm quite tired, I wonder if that will help the jet lag?
I got a taxi across London with no hassle, usually there's a queue of people waiting, but this time I just jumped into a waiting cab! I'm now on my second train of the day, the Heathrow Express (I had to remember to buy a single!). Once at Terminal 3 I had to wait for the Hopper Bus to get me to my hotel.
Checked in with no problems, I have a room with a view of the car park, but at least the hotel has a sense of humour - I have a family of plastic ducks in the bath!
