Day 18 - Mon 16 May 05, Ulan Bator, Mongolia
Up at 06:40 for a pee, and as I was returning from the toilet block the sun rose over the hills! Breakfast was good, lots of fresh bread, and some savoury pancakes. Then it was outside to try out a bit of archery - I'm wasn't very good!
By mid morning I was on a horse(!) riding off to a neighbouring Ger - got to see some Yaks, and popped into the Ger for some tea and yogurt. My horse was on 'auto pilot', I could get him to move from one side of the track to the other, but not off the track! Then it was back to our camp for a four course lunch!
The rest of the time was spent packing for the return journey into Ulan Bator. It would have been great to spend more time at the camp, but we had a train to catch!
The afternoon was taken up with a walk around Ulan Bator, we covered a lot of the ground that we did on the first day, but it was better on foot rather than in the back of a minibus. The train timetable had changed, and the train didn't depart until 19:40. Our guide got us to the train station, and after a bit of confusion about which platform the train was departing from we eventually found our train and compartment.
We met up with a number of people that we'd seen on the train on the way in, so it was nice to see familiar faces again!
I don't think I'll forget my mini-Mongolian adventure in a hurry.
