Day 26 - Tue 24 May 05, Moscow, Russia
Breakfast at the hotel, and then spent the morning 'doing' some more of the Metro stations Keivskaya, Belorusskaya, Mayatovskya, and Komsomolskya. About midday made it back to Red Square (which was closed off) The whole of the Kremlin seemed to be shut as there was a 'do' on. Heard the Russian national anthem being played by a military band in the garden by the Kremlin wall.
But as we walked around all the barriers were removed and we could walk through to the Kremlin ticket office - Great! Got the tickets and joined the crush to get in. Officials, and tour groups (mainly of schoolkids) had priority, so stood in line with people pushing in all around.
Got in at last, and got to see inside a lot of the buildings inside the Kremlin - don't know why I didn't see them last time!
After that it was a quick look around GUM, what used to be the state department store, and grabbed something to eat. It was at this point Guy had to leave us to catch his plane back home - it was sad to see him go, and that he didn't have enough time to do he final leg of the journey.
Got some great photos of Red Square at night, with St. Basil's and the Kremlin floodlit.
