Day 6 - Wed 16 Apr 2003
Up early again! I guess I'm still on UK/train time..Walked up to Stanley Park. Saw some movie trucks on the way, so went over to chat to one of the security guys. It seems it's a Ben Aflick movie - can't remember the name.
As I got closer to the park the rain started to pour down, so much so that the North Shore disappeared for a bit. "Girl in a Dive Suit" is very much in the same mold of the Little Mermaid.
Bumped into a couple from the train outside the Aquarium. Spent a couple of hours in the Aquarium, and then walked back into town. Popped into STA Travel - but no use at all, can't change my air ticket, can't refund my HK accommodation voucher. Sent a couple of e-mails at the library, then headed for one of the tall buildings with a viewing platform.
Very tall, and with the glass elevator on the OUTSIDE of the building! Managed to get in for C$5 due to the voucher that I cut out of the Yellow Pages in my hotel room! Cunning or what! Got some good photos from the top!
There seem to be a lot more people out on the streets and a bit more "stress". I saw a beggar ask some one for some change, and the guy (who was sitting down drinking a coffee) started off with "just one day I'd like to drink my coffee <shouts> without one of you *********** asking for money" Hmmm! There does seem to be a lot of down at heel people, but I've only had one person ask me for money. Homeless in this climate would not be good.
