Day 10 - Sun 20 Apr 2003
Up early, and caught the 07:32 bus to the airport - on the bus met a very interesting lady who turned a conversation about fuel prices, into single families, absent fathers, sex education, homophobia, big company monopolies, and biblical characters who were cheats. The concept of the UK/Britain/English/British Isles was a bit too much for her.
Checked into the airport, and managed to get my ticket re-routed for $100, after being told over the phone it was going to be $150, so I'm off to New Zealand after Japan!
Got some duty free, which you collect from the gate as you get on the plane - they don't trust you not to drink it! Oh yes, I saw an advert on the TV for a set top box which you can get from Wal*mart, it seems to blank out "bad" language on the TV - I'd love to know how that works!
Okay here I am again, on a plane - easily the thing I hate the most in the world - but I have to do this to see these places. This is a 10hr flight, I've got some sleeping tablets, and I hope they just knock me out! Channel 9 allows you to hear the flight deck - how cool is that!
10:06 Japan time - I am at the moment about to cross the International Date line, the bit between Russia and Alaska.
