Day 18 - Mon 28 Apr 2003
Well, that was an easy trip. Got to bed quite early, but didn't sleep too well - anyway I'm at Shin-Osaka now, and I've just re-confirmed my NZ flight. I'm just waiting for the train to Tokyo now. Strange - I don't remember this station from my previous trips, maybe I never got to Shin-Osaksa..
After travelling three quarters of the length of Japan in 24hrs, I'm now on a flight to New Zealand - it will take 10hrs to get to Christchurch. There seems to be a VIP on the flight - I saw the press and security hussle him aboard at the last minute.
I've just started "On the Road" and taken some sleeping tablets, so I'm quite sleepy, I'm hoping I might be able to sleep through some of this flight. I'm in the internal aisle seat which seems to do me well. I've also got any empty seat to the left.. Air New Zealand isn't as good as United - they only have TV's above the aisles, so I get to see "Catch me if you can" for a third time!
Not a great flight - I only got a hour or two of sleep, and I must have done that badly as my right shoulder has stopped working. I've tried painkillers, but they haven't had any effect, but I've got a mini hot water bottle from a crew member - and that does seem to be working.
Well - I've managed to do something that Mr Fogg did not do, and that is cross the equator.
