Day 24 - Sun 4 May 2003
Isn't it surprising how quickly time flies? I'm now on my way back around the globe to home. The trip to the airport was fun - the bus, which is supposed to run every 20 mins, took over an hour to arrive at the backpackers. By that time it was full - the driver asked me to wait for the next bus, and I said no way, and stood all the way to the airport! By that time my flight was open, and a queue was forming. Got my bag checked all the way to Dubai (I wonder if it will get there!) Had to pay NZ$25 just to get out of the country!
Well I'm on a plane again, this is a daytime flight, so how am I going to survive? Hmm - the entertainment system seems quite good, it even has a Nintendo game system! Singapore Air could teach Air New Zealand a thing or two.
NZ is an interesting place, but would I come back? Nah, I doubt it, too far to travel!
Well guess what? they are showing "Catch me if you can" no, only joking - I've got my own popup screen, and I can choose what I watch. I'm just about to cross the Australian coast just south of Sydney and north of Wollongong.
Not a great flight - right up against the bulkhead, so more leg room - but couldn't stretch out. By the end of the flight I had a headache, neck ache stomach ache - the works! While wandering around Singapore airport I saw a sign for a massage - well it would be rude not to!
The Dubai flight, which then goes on to Cairo was pretty full and hot, but I managed to get three seats to myself and got to sleep! Just as well as it was rather bumpy.
Into Dubai in the very early morning - got some cash from the ATM, found the bus into town - walked to my hotel, checked in, and got to bed by 4:30! But it's all part of the experience.
The massage/shower was the best thing I could have done!
