Day 1 - Fri 2 Apr 2004
Up at 6am to catch a lift into work, did a bit of work in the morning, but in the afternoon caught a taxi to the railway station, and got the slow train to Kings Cross.
I have mixed feelings about this trip that I can't get to the bottom of. I can't believe that I'm off around the world again, but this is a very different feel than last year. I guess it could be down to the 11hr flight, and the unknown of Bangkok. Will I get a lot of hassle? But I'm looking forward to HK, Japan (as always) and the American train trip. Maybe last year I had a gentle introduction to my trip, and I didn't have to do anything for four days.
The train to Heathrow was delayed due to a broken down goods train, but no matter I was in plenty of time. Found the Thai check-in with no problems - checked in at Business Class, didn't managed to get an upgrade, but did get an emergency exit seat with the extra leg room.
Feeling a bit better about this now, I'm here at LHR and ready to take off on this adventure - only 2hrs to go before take off!
