Day 1 - Wed 04 Apr 07
So, I'm sitting on the train waiting for it to pull out, and I still can't quite believe that I'm actually heading off on this trip. After all the planning and e-mails and re-planning. I didn't get much sleep last night and it's not down to excitement, but worry. I know that once I'm in India and aboard my sleeper train to Jaipur I'll be perfectly happy, it's just that first dip into the unknown. HK and NZ hold no fears, and as for South America, well that's a long way away!
I don't think anyone at work believed me when they saw my small black bag, everyone assumed that it was just my hand luggage, and that my main bag was else where. Nope - just one small carry on bag for a month away...
Got to Paddington with no problems, and caught the Heathrow Express to T4. The queue for BA was long, and after about three quarters of an hour I finally got to the front only to be told that if I wasn't checking any luggage I didn't have to queue up - Aggghhhh! Anyway I've got 21J the 'best seat in the house' according to the checkin guy.
In fact 21J ain't that bad, it's the first row of World Traveller Plus. The guy sitting next to me works not far from me, and I know one of his wife's workmates. A very small world!
