Day 9 - Thr 12 Apr 07 - Hong Kong
Breakfast at the hotel at 08:00 and then down town to catch the tram up to the Peak. Realised that the viewing platform was shut last time I was here, so got some slightly different photos this time! Headed down to Cosco tower to see if I could upgrade my ticket into NZ, but I found that I'd written down the address of Dragon Air, not Cathy Pacific.. By that time I had to head back to the hotel to check out.
Checkout was easy, then it was back downtown on a tram, and across the harbour on a Star Ferry to check into the Peninsular. The only trouble was I couldn't as there wasn't a non-smoking room free yet. So I left my bag behind and headed off to find the Cathy Pacific office (which was in the Peninsular Tower!). They are not interested in upgrading a RTW ticket - how mad is that? I'm trying to give them money and they are refusing it!
By the time I'd finished with Cathy Pacific my room was ready - it's an exact duplicate of the one I had last time I was here, apart from I've now got a harbour view. Had a swim in the pool, and then watched the sun set over the harbour from my room. I'm also planning on seeing the harbour light show from my 20th floor window.
It's three years ago tomorrow that I stayed here last time, that was RTWII, and it seems a long time ago. I haven't really done anything in HK, but it's still a great city!
I broke my St. Christopher in India, and I put it in for repair downstairs in a jewellers this afternoon. I had it back by 18:00, all fixed and cleaned for 150HK$. Now that is service!
