Day 20 - Sat 21 Apr 07 - Easter Island/Chile
Up quite late (09:20) showered, ate breakfast and was packing up ready to pay up and nip into town to used the Internet when Patricia tells me that the flight is at 12:00 not 12:50, and we're leaving at 10:30. So no time for a last e-mail from Easter Island.
check in is painless, but there are no seats with extra leg room left. The airport is quite full, so there must be quite a few people getting off the flight if it's coming from Tahiti and flying onto Santiago.
Nope I was wrong, the flight was from Santiago, and it's heading back so everyone got off.
Onboard now, it's a 767-300, but far more modern than the one I came in on, it has a wide screen LCD with video on demand no less. I thought I hadn't got an extra leg room seat, but I've got an aisle exit row seat - super.
The flight was ok, and I'm one of the first off. No immigration as it's classed as an internal flight. Skipped baggage reclaim and headed for the exit to find a man with a board with my name on it! I'd booked a transfer on the Internet before I left home! I paid my fee, and then waited outside with the driver for one other passenger, a Swedish guy who had also been on Easter Island. We then headed off into the city.
Dropped off right outside my hotel, checked in with no problems. I have a smallish room looking out onto a courtyard. I head out, find an ATM to get some cash, and an Internet cafe for an e-mail back home. Grab some fast food and decide that two days in Santiago might be a bit too long. I'm hatching a plan, but more of this tomorrow!
