Day 35 - Sun 6 May 07 - Lima, Peru
Up at 05:30, showered and skipped breakfast. A 6 Sol taxi ride got me to the airport with plenty of time to spare. I opt for the automatic checkin, but I have to fight to get the machine to accept my nationality. The I queue up to pay the $4.28 departure tax, but the guy in front of me is paying for a tour group. Takes ages. through security with no issues, and I'm just waiting for the boarding call now.
I'm meeting up with a friend of a friend in Lima, I have a photo - I just hope I can recognise him!
The flight was uneventful, and as soon as I walk out I spot my new pal! I need not have worried. We did a whistle stop tour of Lima, down to the harbour, and the beaches at Miraflores, and the main city square. A better guide I couldn't have asked for! At about 3pm we head back to his house and I got fed. Perfect.
At 16:45 he dropped me back at the airport and I walked into Departures. There was a queue at the check in desks already and this is three hours before departure. It appears that the flight is totally full. I've paid my $30 departure tax, done immigration and security. It now just a question of getting on that plane.
