Day 37 - Tue 8 May 07 - Paris, France
Slept like a log - don't know if that was due to the ½ bottle of wine, or the lack of sleep since Cuzco, or a bit of both. Train arrived on time, bundled out, and got an all day ticket for the Paris Metro for €5 and headed off for Guar du Nord. Put my bag in left luggage for €4 and headed for tourist info. Got a map and took the metro to Notre Dame, and a good few photos. It's been raining, but it's stopped I hope it stays that way.
Started to walk over towards the Effiel tower - there's not many people around as today is a holiday in France. Got a good photo of the tower, and met a very nice lady from America, Diana who is talking photos of 'Flat Stanley' infront of the tower for her grand daughter. Then back on the metro and up to Monmantrre to get a view of Paris below. After that it was a quick stroll back to Guar du Nord to pick up my stuff and check into Eurostar. I eve got a British stamp in my passport by request.
So I'm on the Eurostar hacking through the French countryside, and I've even paid a bit extra for an upgrade into business class. It's so much nicer, and I get fed. This is only the second time on this trip where I've had to put my watch back an hour. I'm back in London at 17:00 smack in the middle of rush hour.
A great trip, and I've only just worked out that I crossed both the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn on the surface. I knew about the one in Chile, but the other took place on a train while I was sleep between Mumbia and Delhi!
