Day 03 - Tue 18 Mar 08
Well the flight wasn't that bad, and I think I even managed to get some sleep, mainly due to the flat bed seat. Got into Beijing a bit early and got through immigration in a flash. The guy even stamped a used page in my passport, just as I requested. Head outside, found the shuttle buses and paid my 16Y to get into the centre of Beijing. By 14:15 I'm in downtown Beijing being driven right past the forbidden city.
It took about an hour to walk back to the hotel and book into Phil's Hotel. Then it was a small nap and out on the streets. I ended up near where I stayed last time I was in Beijing.
By the time I got back to the hotel Phil and his pal Alison were back from their trip to the Great Wall. Then it was out to eat something - Duck, what else? So we ended up in 'Quaalude', the famous restaurant. They even give you a certificate to prove that you've eaten duck there. Then a walk around a market selling a lot of old rubbish, and a lot of dead, cooked animals on sticks!
