Day 08 - Sun 23 Mar 08
Today was spent on the train between Xi'an and Guilin and really, not much happened apart from a couple of good meals in the restaurant car, including some liver cut to resemble a hedgehog! All for 27Y (because we'd skipped the soup at the start).
The only other point of interest was the loudness of both the ring tone and the answering volume of the guy's mobile phone who was sharing our carriage. The incoming SMS sounded like a domestic smoke alarm - only louder. The only source of joy was that he wasn't that popular and received few calls or texts.
Arrived just after 22:00 and was met at the station by Alison who had flown down today. she had sorted out accommodation (Flowers Youth Hostel), so we nipped next door to get our next train tickets straight away. The hostel that Alison selected is very good - sat around until 01:00 chatting, checking e-mails, and booking a river tour for tomorrow. The tour leaves at 08:00, I'm hoping to be able to get some cash and breakfast before we leave.
