Varanasi

Up before sunrise to get down to the water and have a boat trip on the Ganges all for 100r. The boat made it down to the burning ghats where there was plenty of activity - they must be on the go 24 hours a day.

After that it was a an auto rickshaw down to the university and a wander up to the temple on the grounds. very nice and a lot less hassle than the one in town. Back to the hotel for breakfast(!) and spent the rest of the day in the hotel avoiding the heat.

Another auto rickshaw up to the railway station to catch our train. Just about every one in the AC1 carriage is western - tried the 30r railway meal, but not really up to much. Chatted to Diana an Australian who has come down from Nepal. In bed by 20:40!
