Day 75 - Thr 29 May 08
Slept well despite the 04:00 border crossing, at it was done from the comfort of my bed. The train was a bit late getting into Budapest, it should have been there at 07:00, but it was more like 08:00. I changed $50 into 6000f nipped around the corner and purchased my ticket out to Vienna for a couple of days time. The it was down on the metro a couple of stops and I decide to walk rather than take the tram to the Hostel.
I found the hostel with no problems, but my room isn't ready so I dumped my bag and headed out using the map given to me by the friendly hostel owner. Walked down to the river and then followed it to the Parliament building. My EU passport gets me a free tour, but the 10:00 tour is full, so I elect to go for the 14:00 one. I head across the river to Buda and took the funicular up to the castle area.
Interestingly I don't remember much about my previous visit, but that was back in 1996. Headed back over the river to Parliament. I get to see a couple of room, and very impressive they are to. It has the same sort of look and feel of the Palace of Westminster. Saw the changing of the guard at the Crown Jewels. Walked back into the centre of the city and popped into a Cathedral. I'd forgotten how pretty Budapest is.
