Day 5 - Tue 14 Dec 2004
Out of the Hotel by 8am, and walked down to Atocha station, I'm going to get the 9:45 train to Zaragoza - so I got breakfast in the station - There is a complete Botanic Garden in the station itself - a very pleasant place to sit and eat breakfast!
It seems that everyone in Spain smokes, and it's beginning to get to me. There doesn't seem to be anywhere to go to escape the smoke. Even walking down the street there will be someone in front puffing away. I dread to think what the Cancer rates in Spain are.
The train to Zaragoza was uneventful, and the new station in Zaragoza is very impressive, a huge building with a vast roof. I went into the Tourist office, and got all the usual information. A short walk into town took me past the Castle (which I had visited a few years ago, but because it was late in the day it was closed). This time I managed to get in, and it was well worth it - the castle has a very heavy Moorish influence.
I spent the rest of the day taking in the sights of Zaragoza, which is a very compact city - with a large city square, and a cathedral. In the afternoon I caught the coach out to the airport, and caught my Ryanair flight back to the UK. The plane was a brand new Boeing whose first flight was that morning into Zaragoza!
Back home, and ready for work tomorrow!
