Day 10 Sun 26 Feb 2006
Last day in Kuwait - took the 505 bus up to the Kuwait Towers, and got a few photos with no one else around, then I took a slow walk back along the waterfront. Had another look at the shopping mall, but there's still nothing that tempts me. Kuwait may have a lot of oil, but I don't know who is getting all the cash- it isn't the Indians and other workers who service everything.
There is a feel of gentle decay here, for example the subway next to my hotel must have been clean and new at one point. But now it's not, the electric sliding doors are wedged open, and only one of the little stores based there is still operating.
While sitting in the hotel reception I was offered one of those globes of the world with each country being made out of a different semi-precious stone. 55KWD, about 110 Pounds - A bargain! There must be a factory knocking hundreds of these things out.
Well, who would have thought it, there is a Pizza Express in the airport
Checked in with no problems, and no queue! The plane into Dubai is an early 310, 2x4x2 config, but I'm at the back where it goes down to a 2x3x2. Kuwait airport is very good, the toilets are spotless and have beautiful hard wood floors!
Arrived in Dubai at 3am, and the airport is PACKED, the flight to LHR is totally full, so no chance of getting any sleep.
Arrived back in LHR on time (6am) and then went to work, by the end of the day I was having trouble telling which way up was!
